A .50 coupon will be doubled up to $1. :)

Hi Josie! I just started “really” trying to coupon and I love your blog. I follow you and look at it a few times a day. I live above the San Fernando Valley in So Cal and I wanted to know if ALL Ralphs double coupons up to $1? Thanks for all the time you put into your blog! It’s a great help!

Hi Gena! I love this blog too!

FYI, not all Ralphs will double “like” coupons. Like Josie mentioned below, calling your local Ralphs and asking would be a good idea. I actually asked my store about it though, and I got different answers LOL. Someone also told me that their coupon policy was posted in the front of the store but I was in a hurry so I couldn’t check myself.

So this is what I did…
– I did a test run before my big transaction and that was how I found out that they in fact, were doubling all of my $.50 coupons.
Hope this helps! Good luck!

Hello,

I just found your blog and am so excited! I live in Irvine and my coupons do not double. If I use a .25 coupon…its .25 off. :( Is this the coupon policy for all Ralphs?

Josie April 29, 2011 at 1:24 pm

It should be Lindsay. I suggest calling and asking your local store.

Don’t bother wasting your time! I went to one of the ralphs in irvine and the mgr. was unaware of their coupon policy. She even admitted to not being technology savvy and not reviewing the coupon policy online or ever printing a coupon online.
It gets better, the mgr, said ” only the first coupon used, gets doubled” you may not duplicate your coupons. Little she knows, they doubled my duplicate coupon last week. Very confused as to when they make it so difficult to use coupons. They gets reimbursed, what’s the big deal!?

Unsatisfied saver! :(

I live in North Fontana! The ralphs on sierra lakes parkway double the first 3 “like” coupons. I went there this weekend and bought my 80 propel and when i got up there they said that there was a limit on the propel to thirty. But i said there was no signs and so you should post something if you know many people are buying them. He said all stores are different. So the manager came up and agreed to the 30 but i had them all up on the belt. So frusterating. So i told him that my daughter would be buying the other thirty in a different transaction. He was annoyed that i said that but he said, Fine, I’ll do sixty. Really, these stores are ridiculous. They want everyone to be able to get some without clearing shelves. My thought, well there was plenty up there and i cleared no shelves. They will get their money regardless if i buy them or someone else. I am getting fed up with cashiers not knowing anything about coupons. So i went to winco where there were .48 cents!

Chrissy, we also shop at the Sierra Lakes Ralphs. My wife and I are new to the whole coupon thing, and I wonder if you could elaborate on the Ralphs policy? What do you mean by “like” coupons? And, they will only double the first three produced? So if I walk in with 10 $.50 coupons, only the first three will be doubled, and the rest will stay at face value? Also, they recently had a “buy 10 and get $5.00 off” deal on the Mom’s Best Cereal, which resulted in a price of $.99 cent per box. I was able to find a $.75 manufacturer coupon that said “on any purchase”. It didnt specify only 1 box. Does that mean that the single coupon would have resulted in an additional $.75 off of all 10 boxes (resulting in a price of $.24 per box), or would it only apply to the first box? Sorry if these questions sound silly, but we’re new to this. Also, do you know of any other local stores that have a double coupon policy? Thanks

Chelsea May 25, 2011 at 7:52 pm

@Doug – If you had 10 coupons for $.50 off a box of cereal, then they will only double 3 of the 10 coupons you had. You have to have a coupon for every item purchased, unless the coupon states otherwise. The coupon will say the quantiy allowed. If it says “on any purchase,” that would be one item. Some will say “$.75 off any three boxes,” etc. There’s a coupon lingo guide on this site to help you out with your questions on what you can do with your coupons.

My Ralph’s seems to abide by a completely different coupon policy because I called to verify and they said they don’t have a limit on how many like coupons they double. Also I bought 20 like items the other day (each with a $1 coupon so there was no doubling) that would all be free after coupons and this was only the case for 15 of them but I didn’t catch that until after I checked out otherwise I would have done a seperate transaction for the other 5 :( But I am taking this as the store accepts 15 like coupons instead of 5 like specified in the policy. This is for the store in Oceanside on Old Grove Blvd in case anyone wanted to know!

@Josie – I just spoke with a Manager at the local Ralphs in Whittier, CA and the coupons should double up to a $1.00. They have to be Manufactor Coupons… I don’t know about the overages yet… Hoping for the best… good Shopping!

RE: Alicia G.
I just called two of our Ralphs in Murietta CA. They will double the first coupon (up to total of $1.00 after double) on the first item. For example, if you have 3 coupons on 3 packs of cookies, they will double the first coupon, the other 2 are credited at face value. One manufacture coupon per item. I am just getting back into couponing and things have changed drastically!! YIKES I have a lot to relearn!! LOL

Ralphs is an interesting store which doesn’t always follow it’s own rules. It doesn’t only depend on the individual store, but on the check out line too! One week my hubby ad I bought the same items at the same time, using the same coupons at two different registers. All of my coupons doubled (up to $1) even though I had a couple duplicates. My hubby though did not have all his double. The cashiers, knew the policy, but it seems not all computers do. So, I am going to try to avoid check out line 2 at my local store, since it seems to not want to double like coupons. Hey- I’ll use any loophole I can! :-)

I’m having a hard time with Ralph’s, too (in Temecula). They seem inconsistent. They said they double up to $1. Is the limit on how many they’ll double a company policy or store policy?

Stephani June 23, 2011 at 11:42 am

Hi All,
I just called my local Ralphs…Hwy 18, Apple Valley, Ca….so…
The term “doubling” is used loosely…they actually just “bump” up the amount of the coupon to $1…ie, you have a coupon for .25c…they will “double” that coupon to $1…and only one coupon so if you have 3 like items with 3 like coupons, only one is “doubled”. Used to be that they would double all coupons and then they changed it to 3 and now it’s not really doubling at all…too bad. This Ralphs is the only one left in the high desert…sigh…gotta rewrite my list :(

Josie,
Forgive my ignorance but could you clarify…. in the Ralph’s coupon policy it says they’ll accept a competitor’s Catalina…. does that mean they’ll accept a register print out coupon from Target or Walgreens etc? Have you or anyone been successful using a competitor’s catalina coupon at Ralph’s? Are there any other stores that will accept a competitor’s coupon (catalina or weekly add coupon)?

Catrina June 28, 2011 at 6:39 pm

I’ve also never had a problem with the following stores taking an expired coupon: Target, Ralphs, and Vons. Stater Bros is the only one that denied me.

@Lindsay@Lindsay
Ralphs in Newport Beach (Eastbluff) does double up to a dollar, this store is relatively close to Irvine near UCI. I have spoken to one of their managers about the coupon policy, it is also posted near the customer service desk – they do double up to $1 and will accept 10 ‘like’ coupons.

I have also shopped at Ralphs in Irvine (Heritage) awful!!!

Becky July 20, 2011 at 11:11 am

@Lindsay – The Ralphs in Tustin Ranch on Jamboree (across from the Marketplace) doubles coupons up to $1. Your .25 coupon would be .50, your .75 coupon would be $1. Strict cashiers will not double coupons that say “do not double” but I’ve had some cashiers that double all coupons up to $1.

Hi,
I just found your site looking around for Ralphs double coupon policy. I go to the Sun Valley store. I was there a couple weeks ago and all my coupons doubled (5 total and 4 were for like item). I went in to the store tonight and I was furious. Only my 1st coupon doubled. I asked the cashier why and she said that they only double the 1st coupon. I then asked her to then remove the 3 items that were not doubled and she said that she had already scanned them but I had not paid for them yet. I began getting irritated and told her that I did not want them. She reluctantly deleted them from my transaction but refused to give back my coupons. They will now get paid for items that I did not buy. I have only recently started shopping at Ralphs and have only had bad experiences at this store. I will have to try other ones. Are stores allowed to keep the coupons if I change my mind about a purchase before paying???

@Gena -Can you check out w/ multiple transactions to take advantage of ralphs double coupon, using the same savings card?

Reply

Deanna August 13, 2011 at 12:16 pm

Its up to each Ralphs store as to their “double policy” in the city I am in I have two Ralphs stores that double all my coupons and one that will only double the first coupon on each item. Its pretty stupid since I asked them when the policy changed and they said it was posted in the front of the store. ( I looked its not posted) just ask the cashier or call when you get ready to go and see most times they have been accomodating me. The nice Ralphs by me ask when I will be doing my shopping I always use the same day and if I have something over 25 of a certain item I will let them know ahead of time and they will save for me.

So at a Ralph’s thats DOES double coupons, a coupon for $1.25 is just it’s face value?

Reply

Kara September 1, 2011 at 7:35 am

Yes, Angela, only your first “like” coupon under $1 will double up to $1. All others will be held at face value. Your $1.25 coupon will remain $1.25. Hope that helps.

If you add a coupon to your Ralph’s card and got to checkout out will they double the coupon you have saved to you Ralph’s club card? I can’t find that answer anywhere. Thanks in advance.

I’m new to coupon doubling but can someone please explain to this clueless newbie (ME) how do I get stores like Ralphs to double the amount of my coupons? Do I need to have another coupon for doubling or do I just tell them.. or what? I am so confused.
I only know how to use coupons normally (whatever the amount is stated on the manuf. coupon)..

Another question – does Ralphs NOT take online printed coupons? I had some printed off coupons.com but the lady at the store said Ralphs do not accept these. Is this correct?

I live in Rancho Cucamonga and go the the Ralphs in Fontana on Baseline and Cherry. They double up to $1.00 and the first “like coupon”. They way to get around the “like” coupon thing is buy a different variety or flavor of the item. For example, if you have (4) .50/1 keebler coupons, buy 1 fudge shoppe, 1 sandies, 1 vanilla and 1 animal. They will all double because the items arn’t the same.

Hi!!!

I live in Huntington Beach and I Just signed up for Ralph’s reward card yesterday. I was wondering if you(or anyone else reading this) knew if the Ralph’s off Warner & Bolsa Chica, doubled all or only the first coupon? I’m gonna call all my local stores tomorrow, but I wanted to see if anyone knew right off.

Anyone else in HB?

:)

Just FYI for couponers in SGV, the Monterey Park Ralphs doesn’t accept printed manufacturer’s coupons. I’d head up to the 2 in Alhambra. The staff in the Alhambra stores will accept your coupons… plus, they’re very friendly.

@Tracy – The system will automatically double the coupon up to $1 but the cashier is supposed to look at the coupon and override the double, so check out 2 won’t make a difference. It depends on the cashier.

Some Ralphs have certain days that they double the coupons up to a $1. I live in the San Fernando valley , and went to Ralphs and my coupons did not get doubled.

I have to say that I will never shop at Ralph’s again. Generally most stores will let you break up your transactions with coupons (according to the coupon policy), the store in Menifee would not allow me to purchase any other items in a different transaction. I was then lectured by the cashier there which was extremely embarrasing. I can not find a coupon policy anywhere, I was told I would only be allowed to come back in 24 hours to purchase any other items with my coupons. I should have left everything there. I was purchasing many other items. I am tired of being lectured by these cashiers about my coupons. I try to always follow the coupon and what it will allow and won’t. All I am trying to do is save money for my family and I am tired of being ostrasized for this. All of this blog made me realize even further why I will never shop at Ralph’s. It’s not like we as couponers are getting everything for free, we are purchasing also. It is time we took a stand at these stores and stopped shopping there, just because we have coupons doesn’t make our business less valuable. Von’s and Stater Bros have never treated me like this.

Hey Josie, Quick question. Did Ralphs change their policy regarding buy one get one free coupons that are printed from the internet? I just tried to use my Ocean Spray coupon and the person there said that they no longer take internet coupons because of all the fraud. She was someone that I had never seen before and I told her that the other cashiers always let me use it. I have never had a problem and besides all the cashiers have known me for over 10 years and know I would never do that. She said she would do it this time but thats it. I had the policy with me but she said it was something new.
