Petsmart: FREE Science Diet Dog Food or $1 Cat food (2/17-2/20)

February 16, 2012 14:20 pm · 55 comments

Update: This will print session with print a SLEW of coupons (about 5 and the $8 coupon is right after the first two. If you only want the $8 coupon– I suggest cancelling your print session after the third coupon)

Here is another Cat and Dog food freebie for ya!

Petsmart will have a Presidents Day sale beginning tomorrow until 2/20 with excellent Dog and Cat food deals. You will be able to pick up Science Diet Dog food 4 lb bag for only $6. Science Diet Cat food will be $9. There is a $8/1 Science Diet printable coupon available here. (make sure when you register, you hit the DOG option–if you want dog coupons)  This is for new sign ups only.

So FREE dog food or $1 cat food. Chances are, your coupon will be adjusted down in the case of the dog food, I can’t be for sure because I personally don’t use coupons at Petsmart often.

There are also a couple of coupons in your inserts that will be useful:

$3/1 Hill’s Science Diet Ideal Balance Canine Dry Food, exp. 6/30/12 (SS 02/12/12)
$3/1 Hills Science Diet Cat Food printable
$3/1 Hill’s Science Diet Ideal Balance Feline Dry Food, exp. 6/30/12 (SS 02/12/12)

Thanks, thecentsableshoppin

I found an MQ for 3 cans Free with the purchase of any Hill Science Diet dry cat food. Can I use this on with the $8.00 mq?

Josie February 16, 2012 at 3:23 pm

@Jenny – You could try. Again, I’m not knowledgeable on Petsmart :)

Sandra February 16, 2012 at 3:25 pm

Would this work for the dog food bags?
6 bags @ $6=$36
-(4) $8q=$32
-(1) $3q=$3
Total $1 for 6 bags.

When I click on the link you posted nothing happens. I registered clicking “register” at the top of the page and all the coupons offered are for $7/1. What am I doing wrong?

Price match at Petco since they have a $5 off 1 bag on their site and and since it’s a PALS coupon it can be combined with the $3 off from this weekend. Or Petsmart will accept competitors and combine with the mq buy1 bag get 3 free cans

Josie February 16, 2012 at 4:15 pm

Thanks! I was wondering about Petsmart taking competitor coupons.

Reply

Deborah February 16, 2012 at 4:38 pm

For all of you wondering…..I worked at Petsmart for 4 years (left in OCT 2011…..you cannot use 4 coupons and get 6 bags for free, they have been instructed in the last 6 months to take the coupon down to match the sale price…..also….if there are ANY restrictions on the coupon, they will enforce it…..unless they have changed, they DO price match WITH the CURRENT AD or RECEIPT…..they also DO accept competitors coupons. Petsmart was hit with a slew of counterfeit coupons beginning in Mayish of 2011 and really started cracking down. Please do not get rude with the cashier if they ask a manager for approval….it’s what they are instructed to do when in doubt. :) :):) Happy Shopping

Reply

Deborah February 16, 2012 at 4:39 pm

@ricardo – Petsmart WILL NOT MATCH any other ONLINE price but their own……ONLY a current AD or RECEIPT and you MUST have it with you.

Reply

Deborah February 16, 2012 at 4:40 pm

@Sandra – NO, they have been instructed to take the coupon down to the bag price, so, you can ONLY get the number of bags you have coupons for……

Reply

Deborah February 16, 2012 at 4:40 pm

@Jenny – Yes, you can use that with the bag, as long as you pay full sales tax

Does anyone know if Walmart sells Science Diet? If so, will they price match?

Reply

ricardo February 16, 2012 at 5:42 pm

@Deborah – There’s nothing to price match at PetSmart but to use a Petco PALS coupon

Reply

ricardo February 16, 2012 at 5:43 pm

@Yvette in Corona – I’ve never seen it at Walmart.

Yvette in Corona February 16, 2012 at 5:45 pm

My understanding is that they don’t accept online coupons :/. This is what their site says concerning coupons:

COUPONS
If using a coupon code, it must be entered during checkout in the designated Coupon Code field to redeem the respective offer. Coupons may not be combined with other coupons or promotional offers, are limited to one per transaction, and may not be redeemed for cash, credit or refund. See other restrictions in the terms of each offer. PetSmart reserves the right to restrict use of coupons on certain products, weight and destination fees, and expedited shipping charges. Online coupons are not valid in PetSmart stores unless otherwise stated in the offer terms.

Nancy, this is talking about online coupon codes. Not coupons printed from the internet.

perfect, thanks guys! my goodness online coupons, internet coupons…talk about making my head spin!

Kelli February 16, 2012 at 11:37 pm

@nancy – I’ve used printable coupons at multiple Petsmarts before without a problem (I’m a volunteer with a rescue group so I shop at whichever store we’re hosting our adoption event at). They may ask for a manager but IPs have never been an issue for me.

Emalith February 17, 2012 at 12:03 am

@Josie – Actually price matching the price and then using a petco coupon is not allowed. I checked online and here is what it says:
“Q: Can I combine a price match with a separate offer from PETCO?
A: No, you have the choice of the local competitor’s offer and price OR our offer and price, but not both. For example, you cannot receive a price match on an item and then apply a coupon or other form of savings to further reduce the price. ”
I also called my petco to make sure this was correct and they said that there is no way to price match and then use a coupon. You have to just buy it at the price of the other store.
Here is the link to the petco price match policy.

I guess I should have been more specific as to what I was saying “Thanks” to regarding Ricardo’s comment. I was wondering about Petsmart taking competitor coupons–not the price matching part. Sorry about that! I edited my comment to make it more clear. Hope that helps!

I clicked that I was a new dog owner and registered for their site, but it doesn’t show any coupons except the ones under the promotions tab. Any suggestions?

Taryn February 17, 2012 at 7:50 am

@Emalith
I think you can combine a Pals coupon with a MQ…if so you can combine the $5 Petco coupon and the $8 MQ to still get a pretty good discount at Petco. I am not positive but I think their bags are 8.99 right now.

Elizarae February 17, 2012 at 9:19 am

There’s also a rebate for these products! You can’t combine it with coupons, but this way you can another bag for free. I’ll be doing my rebate bag in a separate transaction to avoid and questions about my receipt. Here’s the link to the rebate form:

Deborah February 17, 2012 at 10:18 am

@Josie – You can however Price Match AND use a coupon at Petsmart

Reply

Deborah February 17, 2012 at 10:20 am

@nancy – what generally happens there is also this….they send you emails where you have to click to get the coupon, many people don’t do that step and just bring in the page that shows…”print coupon”….they can’t take that either…..:)

Christina February 17, 2012 at 10:45 am

Is there any link to the coupon besides signing up, their page is down.

I did this shopping trip this morning! I got four bags of dog food (the 5lb bags were on sale for $7), one bag of cat food, two dog treats (these were on sale for $3 and used the $3 coupon for treats), 12 cans of dog food 3 cans of cat food (used 5 coupons, 3 cans free per bag purchase). My out of pocket total was $10.41! Half of that was tax!

Reply

Ashley February 17, 2012 at 12:11 pm

Thanks, Josie! I just picked up 2 bags of 5lb dog food (on sale for $6 each) and the dog treats on sale for $3. Paid $2.16 (more than half was tax!). BTW, my $8 coupon was not adjusted down and the $2 overage went towards my 2nd bag, so I ended up paying $1 for the 2nd bag and getting the first bag and treats for free!

So Petsmart WILL or WILL NOT take the $5.00/1 petco coupon AND the $3.00/1 Manufacture coupon? I’d like to go tonight and try this deal since I can’t get the $8.00/1 page to load, but I want to make sure I’m understanding correctly.

Stephanie February 17, 2012 at 5:10 pm

Both coupons stacked, together for the same item, I mean. @Stephanie -

The Science Diet Light cat food on sale for $8!! The $5/1 Petco coupon and the rebate are for Science Diet Ideal Balance food (not currently on sale but $12.99 at my store).

Don’t go to the Rancho Cucamonga store for this deal. Just got home And the lady tried to tell me I could only use one coupon per transaction because it says one per purchase. I tried to explain the difference but she was pretty set that she was right. So she wanted me to do 8 seperate transactions because i had 8 coupons. Well i only had my card so i was not about to have 8 .23 cent bank transactions. Then they wouldn’t take the 8.00/1 coupon because it was more than the food. She was very rude. I had a cart full of stuff and just left it there and walked out. I’m going to try a different one in the morning. Wish me luck and pray I don’t punch someone. LOL just kidding! ;p

I had a bad experience too and left everything too… I had 9 cans and 6 bags of food. Fontana on Summit was great and Ontario too

Reply

Deborah February 18, 2012 at 7:54 am

@stephanie – You should have asked for a manager, it’s one per bag….perhaps it was a new cashier :)

Reply

Deborah February 18, 2012 at 7:57 am

@Stephanie – If you are trying to use 2 coupons for the same bag, NO…..Petsmart will allow you to stack MF q’s and THEIR store q’s under certain circumstances….i.e. $$$$$ off your purchase or % off your purchase, but, they don’t allow for stacking an MFq and Store q on the same item…..again, these rules vary by store, so, keep that in mind……some stores allow things other stores don’t :)

The coupon for the treats prints out with the $8.00/1 along with 3 other ones for $3/1 food. It’s for the science diet 14 oz bags of treats. @Kris -

These coupons have been great! The store I went to allowed overage, so I can definitely say, I saved lots of money; for items worth $94.98 (with tax), I only paid $10.60 (including tax!)! That’s pretty awesome if you ask me! Since my dog doesn’t eat typical dog food, I took all the doggie goodies to the SPCALA animal shelter in Long Beach. It made my day! :)

I had a horrible experience at the Alhambra, CA Petsmart. I was checking out, all coupons scanned fine, but my end total was higher than I expected. Turned out I had accidentally chosen varieties of the dog food that weren’t on sale. The manager was called over to advise the cashier how to handle an exchange involving coupons and the manager proceeded to tell me(without looking me in the eye) that they had just gotten an email from corporate a few hours ago not to accept these particular coupons because they were not from the manufacturer and they were fraudulent. I informed him that I got them directly from the manufacturer’s website. He wouldn’t take them, so I left w/nothing, then I immediately called corporate to report the incident. I seriously doubt that he got an email about my particular coupons on a Sunday evening of a holiday weekend. I think he lied just so I would not get free pet food! Disgraceful behavior, especially from a manager and he will not be getting away with it.
