My Name is Josie and I live in sunny Southern California and I am a stay at home mom to three beautiful boys. We all know that living in California is a task of it's own and saving in California IS possible! I started this blog mainly to share all the awesome deals out there and show others how to save in any area of life. Even though you may make the commitment to be frugal and pinch your pennies doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice!

ok im al lil confused about easy rebate can someone please help ..employess in store tell me two diff stories…is this a rebate that can be deposited into bank acct. or only valid to reuse in store?
Josi, you will get a check in the mail that you can deposit into your bank account
You can also choose the PayPal option on Easy Rebates. I’m always afraid the small, thin check will get lost or tossed by mistake.
Josi,
There are 2 different “savings” offers available. This may be the root of the confusion. Rebate= funds to you/ deposit to bank account. Reward= Staples only.
If an item is being offered with an Easy Rebate– you purchase the item and either fill out the form and mail it in, or you can complete the submission on-line. Either way, consider this a “mail in rebate” scenario. In which case, you receive a refund in the form of a check in the mail or a deposit to your paypal (you indicate). This is like cash– to do with as you wish.
There are also Staples Rewards. You earn these when you order a print job, when you recycle a print cartridge and/or on purchases or promos which may indicate a reward value, etc (but it is a reward not a rebate). Look for that in the description, so you know what to expect. There are no forms to fill out on Rewards. You provide your Rewards Number (or phone number) at checkout and the system will record and tally your points. Then at certain intervals, if you have earned ample points to meet their threshhold, you are sent a voucher in the mail. This voucher can only be used at Staples for merchandise. Certain brands and items such as postage stamps will be excluded and the vouchers do expire. I believe you receive a check for recycled cartridges ($2/ cartridge), even if you only recycle one. Whereas other Reward points need to meet a certain level before it generates a check. So, if you make a $0.25 copy and that is your only participating purchase– even though it qualifies towards a Staples Reward, you will not see a check.
I hope this helps. Just look for Rebate vs Reward in the offer.
I’m not sure if they have them anymore, but Staples Rewards must be spent in the store. It’s possible some employees didn’t know the difference between the two?
Yes, they still have Staples Rewards which you get for buying certain merchandise or turning in empty ink cartridges.
You can use Staples Rewards (which are like gift certificates that can only be used at Staples) to purchase EZ rebate items. When you submit the EZ rebate, you get a check that can then be deposited in the bank. So you basically convert your Staples Rewards into money you can spend anywhere (like ‘cash’). HTH
I forgot to add…
If you use your Staples Rewards (SR) to buy another item that is supposed to generate another Staples Rewards, it will not generate the new SR. So it’s better to use your existing SR for EZ rebate items or other items you’re not expecting a new SR on. Good luck !
Yeah! Used my $2 off coupon for Zebra pencils and submitted for $4 rebate. $2 MM!
