Several months ago I was invited to the Vons headquarters in Arcadia. They were awesome people and really paid attention to what was being asked.
The main purpose of this meeting was to celebrate the launch of Just 4 U all over Southern California! We were given the opportunity to ask questions regarding the program and even able to test out the program at a local Vons store.
If you are unfamiliar with the Just 4 U program–here it is in a nutshell: Just4U coupons are coupons available to load onto your Vons or Pavilions store card. Coupons include: in-ad coupons (store coupons) , select manufacturer coupons and the best part: Personalized coupons! Personalized coupons are based on your shopping habits and ecoupons are created Just4U! For example: One month you may have a $0.49 per lb personalized price for bananas–this is made Just4U! Use this ecoupon as much as you want until it expires.
Some great features about just4U:
You can stack Just4U coupon with paper coupons! This only works with personalized ecoupons and you will find that there are in-ad coupons available online–you can stack those as well. The in-ad coupons are available to load online or through the ad.
I’ m really excited about being able to snag deals that are targeted towards my personal shopping habits. This definitely gives me a reason to want to shop there!
During the Vons event, I was also able to find out some awesome things that have rolled out in other Safeway markets (Dominicks stores) A new program called “Deal Match” this is a great service that allows shoppers to “price match” deals from local supermarkets to score only the BEST deals within their area. Hopefully soon–this new program will be rolling out nationwide!
Overall, I’m happy to see Vons make some changes to their current ecoupon program. Just4U DOES have my attention–as I have visited 2 times this week to redeem my Just4U Personalized prices. I’m excited to have $2.60 Gallon Milk for the rest of the month
So after all the coupon issues So Cal has experienced in the last couple of months, how do you like Just4U?

My Name is Josie and I live in sunny Southern California and I am a stay at home mom to three beautiful boys. We all know that living in California is a task of it's own and saving in California IS possible! I started this blog mainly to share all the awesome deals out there and show others how to save in any area of life. Even though you may make the commitment to be frugal and pinch your pennies doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice!
How FUN!
The store was very nice looking. Wish my Vons had a produce section that looked like that. The produce at my Vons is normally low on items or the the items look shriveled.
But on a side note. I did go grocery shopping yesterday (I go every 2 weeks) and with no double coupons and Just4U I still saved more at Vons than I did at Staters
I definetly shop there more than I used to and I love that they keep track of what we buy so they offer us more deals on what we usually buy. Love Vons!!
can someone familiar w/the just4U program please type out some scenarios with an on sale item that has a just4U coupon, an in ad coupon, and a manu q all applied to it?? I am new to vons. thanks!
You can watch a video that I made to understand : http://www.southerncalisaver.com/2012/03/vlog-just4u/ Hope that helps
Since the just for you program began at Vons, I have shopped more frenquent there. The only down side to the just for you offers/coupons in my opinion is that you never know when you will get offers and the type of offers you get. I use to get the produce offer and i used every week on our weekly fruit/veggies we needed and all of suden they stopped it. (I loved that offer
$ off produce or veggies, you rarely see coupons of those items) I use to get offers for free items that we would normally buy then i started to get random free items. I know its a luxury to get free items but it would be nice if they were items you would buy. or coupons/ offers for items you buy there on a normal basis. But I do still enjoy shopping at vons a lot more since the Just For you program began.
Before Just4U, I ONLY shopped Vons if there was a good deal with double coupons. Now, I buy ALL my staples at Vons because I always get great Just4U prices on produce, milk, cheese, yogurt, and bread. I’m there at least once a week for these items. And, I haven’t felt a thing since they stopped doubling coupons
So the J4U rolled out at Safeway in Nor CAL months and months ago, and the one tremendous downside that I have found is that you have to double and triple check your receipts to make sure that you actually got the special J4U price. It never fails that something rang up wrong. I always go to customer service and they will credit me back, but it is a pain. Honestly, it would be so much simpler if everyone just got the same LOW price to begin with!
The program has improved substantially since its inception. I used to have problems about half the time with my J4U prices or coupons not applying and now it is about twenty-five percent of the time. My least favorite thing about J4U: the free items that are offered are usually new items that I am unable to locate in the store so the offer expires before I can get it. My favorite thing about J4U: not needing to clip the coupons from the ad!!
I absolutely love the J4U program. I also love that they have the computers in front of their store so I can print out my list. Even my in laws who are not couponers at all like this program cuz they avoid clipping.
I love the J4U produce discount since it includes salad dressing too! Love their smart phone app too, as I can check my list as I shop.
Im not familiar with it I live near Huntington park and there’s no Von’s around here
I would if it were closer
I am on the panel for the smart phone app. I love the just for you program although I have wor out my welcome for the milk it just went up to 2.89
I hate it, it’s hard to check that everything worked. Double coupons rule
It says right on the receipt, by line item.
does anyone else have the problem of just4u coupons mysteriously showing up in their purchases? i’ve lost quite a few paper coupons that way. vons receipts are still hard to read…
i also experience glitches on the site where it’ll say i loaded something, even though i didn’t, and when i check my list (cause that’s the only way to remove), it’s not on there so i’m lost as to whether it’s loaded or not.
on the plus, i like the “unlimited” aspect on some of the offers. the produce and meat coupon are great but it’s a shame they’re not always on there.
i’m bummed by the free offers. we don’t all get them. i haven’t redeemed any so far. i usually don’t get anything good and i’ll forget otherwise.
I have pretty much given up shopping at vons in general now. Every time I shop there the just for you coupon doesn’t ring up, they make it impossible to understand the screen when checking out to try and check the price is what you loaded to the card. I ask the cashier to check and still I don’t get the price. It isn’t worth taking all the extra time at customer service to get a deal. It would be great if it actually worked, but it doesn’t.
I like the idea of the j4u program but because a lot of the sale prices aren’t much better than I could find items at regular price at food 4 less for example, I find it’s more hassle to try to remember if I have the cheap banannas or bread on my list than it is to just pick it up at FFL. Kwim? Plus, this week is a perfect example of how they advertise deals that simply aren’t there. Did anyone actually find the $10 off $50 purchase coupon that they sent advertisement of by email? I didn’t, and neither did any of my couponing friends. I find that extremely disappointing and a waste of my time spent hunting for it and planning buys around a deal I can’t confirm.
Every time I shop at Vons I am very confused with the receipt and the price that I actually paid for each product. I never know if I really got the price that I saved on my card, throught Just4You. Last time I had to ask customer service (I added Ziplock bags on my card for $1.99 each and got 2 packs, and used one man.coupon $1 off 2….it is very simple, I wanted to see that I paid $3 for both ziplock bags, but the receipt had millions of numbers, crazy pricing, discounts, and after asking a manager (who later had to ask her supervisor), they both couldn’t understand my receipt, so they just returned my money (I didn’t ask for that, but they felt bad they couldn’t give me an answer in 30 minutes or so.) Such a waste of time.
I shopped last night and saved $54/42% on my bill. There was a ton of discounted organic frozen foods so I was able to get a bunch for 50% off and the $5 off frozen foods coupon. In addition to the Just4U, I made out ok.
My Vons is getting friendlier as to Just4U problems at Customer Service.
Just today I was looking at my receipt and noticed that I had confused a
Just4U coupon for a Just4U price and thereby had used the coupon incorrectly.
After thinking about it, I decided that I didn’t really need the thing (I had only picked it up because I thought it was a Just4U price), and when I went to Customer Service to return it for my money back, Customer Service refunded the price difference and I ended up keeping the item. I think they have realized that the Just4U program is confusing to everyone.
I love the idea of Just4U and appreciate the personalized prices and free items, but it now takes me a lot longer to plan my shopping list, compare prices between stores, and compare prices between brands/similar items. Sometimes there will be a sale price and personalized price for the same item, and the personalized price is not always lower. On the cell phone app, you cannot remove a coupon once you have added it, so if I have a paper coupon that would make it a better deal, I can’t use it. I get offers/coupons for items that are not available at the stores in my area. On almost every shopping trip, something does not ring up correctly at the register. Vons used to be my main grocery store, and now I find myself going there only occasionally.
I like the idea of it, but every time I shop at vons now, I find at least one thing that didn’t ring up at the just 4 u price, so I feel like it isn’t worth shopping there, they are basically taking money from me each time by having me load a price onto my card and then not actually giving it to me.
Do they not give you the price if you take your list to customer service?
For many of the above stated reasons, I love the app. Instead of needing to carry around a list, I just load it to my card and ad it to my shopping list on the app. I usually am a perimeter shopper and love that they have deals on everyday stuff and not just boxed or canned items that tend to be more likely to be found in the coupons. I have had to double check my receipt and have had to get customer service to refund money, but I find that I have to do that at almost every store, so I kinda just count it as part of the trip. I still save upwards of 40% weekly on my Vons shopping. I can even get my husband to shop cause all he has to do to get the deal is enter the phone number. So when there are stock up prices on soda or other items he likes, he will stop daily to get the deal. Since I only have Vons and Staters in town, and even though Food 4 Less and Albertsons sometimes have better deals, I am happy with Just 4U. Unless it is an awesome deal, I wont head out of town.
