I did a little bit of shopping at Walgreens yesterday to test out their new Balance Rewards program. Overall things went off without a hitch! I will be back with a post later today about some of the things I noted that worked and didn’t work with the new reward system, but wanted to tell you about this awesome Mitchum deal first. In the ad, Mitchum was priced at $1.99 with 1,000 Balance Reward points. With coupons, that would have been a great deal, however, it gets even better! Reader Nora let us know that Instead of the 1,000 points that the ad stated, the Mitchum is producing 2,000 points and is even flagged this way in store. Here’s your deal:
Buy 1 Mitchum or Lady Mitchum Deodorant – $1.99

My Name is Josie and I live in sunny Southern California and I am a stay at home mom to three beautiful boys. We all know that living in California is a task of it's own and saving in California IS possible! I started this blog mainly to share all the awesome deals out there and show others how to save in any area of life. Even though you may make the commitment to be frugal and pinch your pennies doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice!
Do you know if there are limits on these points? Like can I get more than 1 mitchum in one transaction.
Liza, yes! You can get more than 1 in a transaction and get points for each one your purchase. As of right now, there are no limits listed (unless the store sets one themselves. Hope that helps!
Thanks!
Have you seen how the points break out into dollars?
5,000 points = $5
10,000 points = $10
18,000 points = $20
30,000 points = $35
40,000 points = $50
This means that if you wait to redeem until you’ve accumlated 18,000 points or more, 2,000 points (as in the Mitchum scenario) may be more than $2!
Andrea, yes! The more you accumulate and save your points the more they are worth. Cool, huh?! I am just planning on listing the basic reward points translation for those that want to redeem and spend their points right away. I will be back later today with my thoughts on saving vs. spending your points.
I bought 9 mitchum total (2 different stores, 3 different days to spread it out). Spent $9.16 OOP, and have 18,000 reward points, so $20!!!
Nora which cities did you shop at? I’m only getting 1000 points for each of my Mitchum’s
I purchased 11 mitchum, 14 packs of ID gum, plus 2 Aussie (I did in it’s on transaction so I could roll the $2RR). If they would have had the water ($1.99 plus 500 points) – my oop would have been approximately $27 and I earned $35 reward from points.
As I stand after this transaction without the water – I’m at $23 OOP and 29,000 points! (in the end, I’ll be around a $8 moneymaker!!!)
if you don’t have a card, would they ask for your phone #?
Myla, if you registered online and don’t have a physical card, you can enter your phone number to pull up your card info. Or, if you haven’t signed up yet, you can sign up and get a physical card right at the register. And yes, they ask for your phone number. Hope that helps!
Josie, help! I bought 6 Mitchum’s at 2 different stores. I only got 1000 points each. When I asked an employing she said that the ad shows 1000 not 2000 however it’s not clear which item is the 1000 points, the item above or the item below. I thought I saw the tag at the first store labeled 2000 but the 2nd store wasn’t labeled at all and they wouldn’t help. How can I get my addition 1000 points per item?
They changed it. I only got 1,000 no matter how many were in 1 transaction whereas the first time I got 2,000 for each I bought in a single transaction. I might call and ask about my points.
