In my couponing career– I have reached a milestone. So Cal can now join Northern Cal as the “land of no doubles”– I have never been without a store that doubles regularly. I admit, I am scared.. but I am hopeful
In April, Ralphs announced that they will no longer double coupons and instead they will lower prices on items we buy everyday. Tomorrow, Vons will stop doubling coupons and hope to entice customers with the new Just4U program. I must say that I am re leaved that the stores are replacing double coupons with something. While Albertsons still offers Double the Value promotions this is a game changer for us California couponers.
Personally, I am not upset. (ok,I cried all day today
) When it came to doubling coupons at any store (Ralphs or Vons) I always felt very limited to how many coupons were doubled..so taking them away completely does not disappoint me too much. It just means I will need to become a smarter shopper!
I consider myself a “strategic shopper” so I use different strategies to score the best deal..and all of you should too! So to me personally–this isn’t the end of the road. It just means we will need to continue to be the smarter consumer and use coupons and sales to our advantage.
If you are new to couponing: This is the couponing life. Things change, coupons change. It takes a lot of work but it is STILL possible to save money in this economy. Hopefully you will all stick with it to learn that this is the best way to save for your family!
